free panda antivirus scanWhat is a good free alternative to Panda Global (antivirus)?

I currently have Windows 7 Ultimate and use Firefox with a bunch of add-ons (CS Lite, NoScript and AdBlock).

My Panda IS Global thingywhatsit runs out very soon, and since Panda seems to be a little too... over-protective... I'd like to go with a free antivirus for a while.

What do you recommend?

And is it possible to have two separate programs like this running? For example, if I used Avast and had something like SuperAntiSpyware if it didn't scan for spyware (or maybe that was malware)?

Is there a database rating the efficiency of antivirus programs and what they do and don't scan for?

Panda was good, but it kept thinking MSN was spyware. And I feel like half of the port scans/connection attempts it detected were my modem/router trying to keep me connected to the internet (just judging by the frequency and it all coming from the same IP address).

Thankyou for your help.
You will of course first have to completely remove panda.

then
do this on-line scan first :
only if you think you might be infected now.

Then
i suggest you go and get Avast :

you can not get a betterfree panda antivirus scan anti virus with anti spyware system for free.
it has many features you will have to pay for in other systems.

don't forget to register or you will only have it for 30 days
by registering you will get a licence for a full year.
just re-register at the end of the year to get another one year licence.

if you do not like the look of Avast
then microsoft supply a system for free..

Microsoft Security Essentials :
(This replaced Windows OneCare)

the next best free one is Avira

Avira :

remember you must only have one antivirus system on your computer at anyone time.

if you want a complete internet security system,
then there is
100% FREE

Comodo Internet Security :

use side by side with

Security 360 Free :

?
Just personal opinion of course. I use Avast , I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. I recently changed to Comodo firewall which seems fine and I seem to boot up quicker. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two antfree panda antivirus scani-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly.
A cloud based AV which will co-exist with any one other AV on your PC is ClamAV for Windows. It currently protects you from over 16 million bugs.

It has toolbar installation and community registration options, but you can opt out of both.
Well, AVG Free or Microsoft Security Essentials come to mind.
well panda is panda along with trend micro and mcafee
subpar and the middle of the road
these are good free apps but need help ( remember free is limited and they want to give you the free stuff so you will buy the full program ; common sense )
avg 2010 is very good ( was not a fan of it but looks better than most )
avast # 1 but needs help - sandboxie cures the problem
avira # 2 but needs immunet.com to get it in high gear
never ever leave off malwarebytes or hitman pro from your pc ( they are free and saves your but
( hitman pro scans and updates its files from a cloud base , on start up it scans ur pc for free and cures all it finds )
